10 blogs you should be reading

By:Jennifer Gruden

Now that everyone can be her own publisher on the internet, blogs abound. The good: They're often authentic, unique, and give women their own unedited voices. The bad: How do you sort through them all?

Here are 10 of our favourite all-round blogs written by women. We'll be developing lists of blogs by topic in the future, so please share your finds in the comments.

Letters from Rona
Rona Maynard is of course a former editor-in-chief of Chatelaine and a More contributor. It's no surprise, then, that her blog is relevant and a pleasure to read. If you've missed this one add it to your list.

Jane Fonda's blog
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to be related to someone famous, Jane Fonda's blog might be for you as it is for me. Reading it feels like getting letters and photos from a famous aunt - generous in its detail and with enough of a view behind-the-scenes to make one feel in the know.

Margaret Atwood: Year of the Flood
Another celebrity blog, but of course Canadian. You don't want to miss this one.

The Best Kept Secret
Karen Hamilton will be a familiar name for regular readers of both More and More.ca. What you might not know is she got our attention with her blog on 40+ living in Toronto.

Penelope Trunk's Brazen Careerist
Penelope's blog is "about career advice. And about me." I'd say it's her unique and authentic voice that keep this blog on the list; she's very open about her struggles with divorce, remarriage, Asperger Syndrome, and entrepreneurship.

Mid-century Modern Moms
Where else can you really get inside parenting teens? This blog's got the real scoop on the prom and other issues.

Fabulous after 40
A fashion and beauty oriented blog for women over 40.

Marrying George Clooney
Writer Amy Ferris's blog continues her exploration of midlife.

Life begins at 41...or maybe 43
The semi-anonymous (her words) Louise from Ottawa shares her experience, thoughts, and interesting Internet finds.

Time Goes By
Roni Bennett's blog on what it's really like to get older.
